INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.– A teenager accused of murdering three people at a north side apartment complex on July 16 faced a juvenile judge Tuesday to hear the charges against him.
Family members of the three men who were killed at Somerset Lake Apartments earlier this month filled the juvenile center courtroom.
Investigators don’t think it was random that the 15-year-old suspect, three men and maybe other suspects were gathered at the apartment complex. Investigators are looking into the possibility of it being a drug deal involving the theft of a safe and whatever was in it.
Dominique Miller, 25, Jordan Wright, 25, and Justin Crowder, 19, were all roommates. They were shot to death that night and the suspect later showed up at Methodist Hospital with a gunshot wound.
The teenager sat in court Tuesday as Judge Gary Chavez read off seven counts: one of robbery with serious bodily injury and six of murder. He faces two counts per victim.
A Deputy Marion County prosecutor informed the court that a notice to have the case waived over to adult criminal court so that the boy might someday stand trial as a juvenile has been filed.
That hearing has yet to be set, though attorneys will meet again on Aug. 23.
