PLAINFIELD, Ind. (October 11, 2015)–Several cars that were headed to area car dealerships were destroyed in a fire Sunday afternoon.
AT 2:15 p.m., Plainfield Fire got a report of a car on fire at Adesa Auto Auction in the 2900 block of Main Street.
When the first fire units arrived, they found 8 cars on fire. Flames and thick black smoke billowed from the scene.
With the cars located in the middle of a rather large lot, firefighters had difficulty getting enough water onto the flames at first.
The blaze was brought under control in just over 15 minutes.
In all, 8 cars were destroyed, 4 others were damaged. Fire officials estimate damage at $150,000.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation but it is not believed to have been intentionally set.
No injuries were reported.
