LOUISVILLE, Kent.– Gunfire erupted near an annual Thanksgiving Day football game in Louisville, Kentucky, leaving two dead and four others wounded, police said Thursday. The motive for the shooting is unclear.
Officers responded to Shawnee Park around 1:30 p.m., WDRB reports. Louisville Metro Police spokesman Dwight Mitchell said two men with gunshot wounds were found at the scene. Both were pronounced dead.
Four other victims were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
WDRB reports the annual “Juice Bowl” football game at the park had to be canceled.
“There are people who won’t make it home to the Thanksgiving table,” one coach said.
