Original story:

GREENTOWN, Ind. -- Two people have been found dead with gunshot wounds inside a vehicle parked in a Casey's General Store parking lot in Greentown, according to the Greentown Police Department.

Around 6:30 p.m. Monday, police were called to the Casey's General Store near 9000 East 00 North South for a welfare check.

Officers arrived to find a deceased man and woman inside a vehicle.

“As of this moment in time, this is being treated as a death investigation," said Captain Jordan Buckley with the Howard County Sheriff's Office. "Further details will be released when we have made proper notification to the families.”

Several people who work nearby all say they didn't hear anything suspicious, like gun shots. Howard County deputies say their preliminary investigation shows that the incident was isolated to the car, but they cannot yet confirm that.

“If you’re thinking about it, when you are driving inside your car, how quiet the outside is inside? Well, that works the other way around too," said Captain Buckley.

An investigation into their deaths is ongoing.

The Casey's is located right in the heart of the small town of Greentown. The location is as public as it gets for that area.

“Evil can show its face anywhere. You know things happen in every part of the country," said Captain Buckley. "We have seen bad things happen in towns half the size of this.”
