Deadly crash in Fishers claims 1 life, sends 2 others to hospital


FISHERS, Ind. — A deadly crash in Fishers claimed one life and sent two others to a hospital on Friday afternoon.

According to the Fishers Police Department, the crash occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Olio Road and 131st Street.

Police stated the accident was between two cars, a white Cadillac and a black Acura.

Three people were sent to the hospital following the crash, but police later said that a 95-year-old passenger in the Cadillac ended up succumbing to his injuries and dying as a result of the accident.

The deceased was identified as Billy Newman of Fishers.

Fishers police stated that based on evidence collected at the scene and witness testimony it is believed the crash occurred when the southbound traveling Cadillac turned into the path of the northbound Acura.

Police stated the driver of the Cadillac was a 72-year-old woman who was sent to the hospital. The driver of the Acura, an 81-year-old woman, was also transported to the hospital. Police originally listed all three of the occupants’ injuries as “serious to life-threatening.”

Police have not updated the drivers’ conditions since Newman passed away.
