Alaska puts pregnancy tests in bars

(June 17, 2014) – It’s not something you’d expect to find in a bar.

But watering holes across Alaska will soon be offering pregnancy tests to patrons.

They’re making the pregnancy tests available in bathrooms in an effort to reduce fetal alcohol syndrome across the state.

Alaska currently has the highest known rate of fetal alcohol syndrome in the U.S.

Women in the state are 20% more likely to binge drink while pregnant.
