Person killed after crashing into rear of semi on city’s south side

UPDATE (2 p.m.): The person killed has been identified as 46-year-old Kenneth Meadows of Greenfield.  A witness told police Meadows, who was driving a work van, was speeding before crashing into the rear of a semi trailer.

Meadows was transported to Methodist Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Investigators do not believe alcohol played a factor in the crash.  Police continue to investigate the crash.

UPDATE (11:27): All lanes have reopened.

UPDATE (10:27 a.m.): The right two lanes of I-465 are still closed due to the crash.

UPDATE (9:45 a.m.): Authorities have reported one person was killed in the accident involving a semi and another vehicle.

UPDATE: Only the right three lanes of I-465 are closed.  Traffic is still backed up so motorists are advised to avoid the area.

All lanes of westbound Interstate 465 are closed on the city’s south side due to a serious crash involving a semi.

Emergency crews responded to the area near Mann Road due to a report of an entrapment around 8:23 a.m.

All traffic is being diverted either north or south of I-65. Authorities on the scene are attempting to move traffic off East Street or State Road 37.
