All northbound lanes of I-65 at mile marker 133 closed due to crash, 12-year-old seriously injured

BOONE COUNTY, Ind. — A 12-year-old is seriously injured following a crash Saturday morning that forced all northbound lanes of I-65 near State Road 267 closed.

Around 2 a.m., police were dispatched to I-65 near mile marker 136 for a personal injury accident involving a Nissan Xterra and a Jeep. The vehicles collided with each other and both bounced off the guardrails.

A 12-year-old girl in the Jeep was ejected from the vehicle quite a distance, according to Sergeant Ben Phelps with Lebanon Police. She was transported to Riley Hospital in serious condition.

The girl’s mother, along with an infant, were also taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

A single occupant in the Nissan suffered minor injuries.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
