WHITESTOWN, Ind. (November 30, 2015)- Millions of people are expected to shop online as part of the Cyber Monday craze.

Amazon is one of the world’s largest online-based retailers. The company let FOX59 inside its Whitestown fulfillment center to see how it handles its single busiest day of the year. The central Indiana facility is the size of nearly 28 football fields, and it takes nearly 3,000 workers to staff it.

Thousands of temporary workers here in central Indiana were hired just for the holiday season. Amazon says it plans to promote many of those temporary workers to permanent positions.

The online retail giant predicts this will be its biggest online shopping season, ever.

More and more customers are expected to do their shopping on their mobile device. Last year, Amazon saw nearly 60% of its holiday orders submitted through a mobile device.

Key Shipping Dates for Amazon Customers for Delivery by Christmas:

  • December 16th: FREE shipping
  • December 22nd: Two day shipping
  • December 23rd: One-day shipping

Amazon says it will unveil new deals every five minutes this year on Cyber Monday.
