A teenager has been arrested for threatening to shoot another student, police said.

Anthony Stewart was arrested at Highland Middle School in Anderson today.

Police said the 16-year-old told a girl he was going to shoot her because he was afraid she would turn him in for writing obscenities on a chalkboard in a classroom.

Officers did find a handgun but it wasn’t loaded and didn’t have a magazine in it.

Investigators said Stewart also showed the gun to other students at school.

Right now, he is charged with intimidation, carrying a handgun without a permit and carrying a handgun on school property.

He will be charged as an adult in Madison County.
