INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.– For years, Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck was ridiculed for not moving into the smartphone world, instead preferring an older flip phone.
This week, he finally turned in his ancient cell phone and got a new one. Once again, he went for the flip phone.
He thanked AT&T on his Facebook page Thursday for the new phone, using the hash tag #FlipPhonesAreBack.
Earlier this month, Luck spoke with USA Today about why he prefers the flip phone.
“One, I like it. It’s a comfort thing,” Luck said. “I think anybody can appreciate that, if you’re used to that.
“Two, I don’t think I want to be connected 24/7, and this phone is maybe sort of a reminder that you don’t have to be connected. And it’s nice to get away. It’s nice to turn your phone off.
“It has text. I can text and call. What else do you need? And I have an iPad. I’m not a Luddite.”
Either way, we’re ready for the Colts’ regular season and seeing a healthy Luck out on the field.
