(October 29, 2014) – Now hiring: Robots.
That’s right – Lowe’s Home Improvement is testing whether robots on wheels can improve its customer service.
Four of the bots are being tested at a store in San Jose, Calif. now.
According to Business Insider, they are equipped with 3D cameras to scan and identify items.
Customers can research products they want to buy on the screen, and then the robot will lead them to the aisle where the item is located.
Business Insider reports that the robot uses the same sensors as Google’s driverless cars to avoid collisions, and every night it updates its map of the store’s inventory.
