Arrests in Clay Co. burglaries

CLAY CO, Ind. – A joint investigation by Indiana State Police and the Clay County Sheriff’s Office has landed three men behind bars on multiple charges. The three men were arrested at their homes without incident Wednesday evening, October 23, 2013 and incarcerated in the Clay County Jail.

Mark Shaffer, 23, and James Howard, 22, both of Terre Haute and Joshua Johnson, 25, of Brazil were charged with burglary and trespassing.

The case originated on October 19th, when Indiana State Police received a tip about the three individuals allegedly possessing stolen property. Through their investigation, officers determined the three men were alleged to have burglarized a residence and barn in North Brazil.

During the burglary, guns and lawn and power tools were taken. Investigators also received consent to search two eastern Vigo County residences and recovered burglary items believed to be connected to both burglaries. No additional suspects are being sought.
