WHITESTOWN, Ind. — Six people were injured during a two-vehicle crash in Whitestown, according to authorities.

Shortly before 5:30 p.m. Thursday, responders were called to the intersection of State Road 267 and Indianapolis Road.

Police say there was a collision between a semi headed southbound on SR 267 and a car headed eastbound on Indianapolis Road.

The car contained five people, and the semi contained one, authorities say. Responders immediately began treating all six individuals upon arrival, according to Whitestown police.

Officials say because of the severity of the injuries, the Boone County Fatal Alcohol Crash team is completing an investigation of the crash, and alcohol is believed to be a factor.

“We do respond to crashes quite often here, and usually, they’re pretty nasty,” said Sgt. John Jurkash with the Whitestown Police Department.

This is a developing story and will be updated once more information is available.

CORRECTION: After initially stating that all six occupants and drivers involved were taken to area hospitals, the Whitestown Police Department now says only five people were hospitalized. They are not providing further details on that sixth person as of this time.
