Attempted child abduction at church function in Lafayette

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (September 19, 2014) – There was an attempted child abduction at a church function in Lafayette Thursday night.

The Lafayette Police department responded to the call just after 7:45 p.m. in the 800 block of North St.

Officers spoke with the juvenile victim who described the unknown suspect as a black adult male, unknown age, wearing a blue hat, red puffy coat and blue jeans.

The victim was at a church function when the suspect entered into the building and attempted to physically remove the victim from the building.

The victim screamed for help and the suspect released the victim.

The suspect was last observed running west on North St.

Officers searched the area for the suspect, but they were unable to locate him.
