Update (November 30, 2016) — On Wednesday, investigators said they found underwear and shorts near the body, but nothing else. Multiple bones, including the person’s pelvis, were reportedly missing. Anthropologists and deputies are expected to continuing searching the field Thursday.
Update (November 29, 2016) — Anthropologists from UIndy arrived in Delaware County at 11 a.m. on Tuesday.
DELAWARE COUNTY, Ind. – A body was found in a Delaware County farm field on Monday.
The sheriff’s office confirms the body was found next to railroad tracks near County Roads 700 West and 300 South.
According to the Delaware county coroner, the body is so badly decomposed it’s going to take quite a bit of time to figure out the details.
Anthropologists from UIndy are headed to Delaware County on Wednesday to assist in the autopsy. They’ll look for potential trauma and might be able to provide an update as to whether it’s male or female.
The coroner also says the bones have been in the field for at least a few weeks, if not a month or two.
Any major developing updates will come Wednesday It is unknown of foul play is suspected.
