Ball State releases additional information about gunman

MUNCIE – In an alert posted on its website, Ball State said a man with a medium build was seen with a handgun near campus Monday morning.

The man was described as a white male, 5’2″ to 5’5″ with dark pants and a light jacket. He was seen walking east on the north side of Bracken Library in the direction of the Noyer and Whittinger Business Building. The man had no discernible threatening behavior, the university said. He appeared to be carrying a handgun in his left hand. According to the Muncie Star Press, the man appeared to be in his 50s.

Students tell Fox 59 that dormitories are locked down. Students currently in class are being held until given the all clear.

The man was sighted around 7:30 a.m. The university sent an alert around 8:15 a.m.
