Bloomington man airlifted to Indianapolis hospital after Brown County crash

NASHVILLE, Ind. (June 18, 2015) – A Bloomington man was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital after a crash in Brown County.

Indiana State Police were dispatched to a crash in Brown County on State Road 46 near Summers Place Trail just before 4 p.m. Wednesday.

A 2011 Subaru passenger vehicle driven by Jason Carter of Bloomington was in the eastbound lane, waiting to turn left into a driveway. A 2005 Ford passenger car driven by Zachary Byer of Loretto, Kentucky was approaching the Subaru, also heading east on SR46 at a speed that was revealed to be too high.

For unknown reasons, Byer’s Ford struck the Subaru in a rear end collision.

Carter was extricated from his vehicle, and he was flown to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis via IU Health Lifeline Helicopter.

Carter’s condition is unknown at this time.
