Bloomington officer shot at early Sunday morning after responding to reported rape

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (November 9, 2014) — A Bloomington police officer was shot at while responding to a call early Sunday morning.

Bloomington police say officers were called to East 12th Street around 4:30 a.m. for a possible rape.

The first officer to arrive noticed the front door to the residence was partially open and he saw a man inside.

When the officer identified himself, he heard two shots and saw the muzzle flash as one of the suspects fired shots at him and the officer returned fire.

The officer chased one suspect on foot and arrested him in a nearby alley.

A second suspect was arrested after being found in a nearby parked vehicle.

One suspect had been shot in the arm and the second in the leg. Both were taken to the hospital and are expected to recover.

No officers were injured during the incident.
