NEW CASTLE, Ind. – DNA evidence has been used to positively identify a body found in a New Castle field on Nov. 8 as an Alzheimer’s patient who went missing on Aug. 14.
Larry Tucker, 74, went missing after walking away from his assisted living facility, Addison Place. A Regional Silver Alert was declared as a result.
Police say Tucker’s body was found by a farmer who was harvesting corn around a quarter mile away from the assisted living facility.
Police say it took multiple weeks for the body to be positively identified, because of its advanced state of decomposition.
It remains unclear how Tucker was able to walk away from Addison Place. There is no security video from the building.
Members of Tucker’s family declined to say whether a lawsuit against Addison Place is in the works.
