UPDATE: Body found in southwest side retention pond

UPDATE 3/22, 11:00 AM — The body has been identified as that of 21-year-old Reyes Xavier Perez.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (March 21, 2014)– The Indianapolis Fire Department (IFD) has located a body in a retention pond on the southwest side.

Officers and firefighters responded to the 1300 block of Murphy’s Landing Dr. just before 8:00 p.m., Friday in relation to a possible drowning. This location is near Bluff Rd. and Southport Rd.

IFD was called to the site after a jacket was located near the pond that matched the description of the jacket belonging to 21-year-old Xavier Perez. Perez was wearing a jacket that matches the description when he went missing on March 14. Police have not identified the victim at this point.

Divers searched for 48 minutes prior to locating the victim and found the person in 6-7 feet of water about 30 feet from shore.
