HUMPHREYS COUNTY, Tenn. – The son of country singer Craig Morgan died after going tubing over the weekend.

Officials with the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency said the body of Jerry Greer, 19, was recovered from Kentucky Lake. He and a friend were tubing in the Tennessee River on Sunday afternoon when they fell into the water. Greer never resurfaced, witnesses said. He was wearing a life jacket, according to the Tennessean.

Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis said crews worked through Sunday night to find Greer and called in additional resources early Monday morning. Between 20 and 30 boats were involved in the effort to find him. Search crews found his body Monday night.

Greer recently graduated from Dickson High School, where his principal remembers him as an outstanding athlete and fierce competitor who was loved by his classmates. Grief counselors will be available for students and staff at the school through Thursday.

Greer’s father, country singer Craig Morgan, had several hits including “Tough,” “Almost Home,” “That’s What I Love About Sunday” and “International Harvester.” Greer occasionally appeared on his father’s show, “Craig Morgan All Access Outdoors,” on the Outdoor Channel.
