LAFAYETTE, Ind. (January 27, 2014) – The body of missing Lafayette resident Neal Curtis Bastian was found Sunday afternoon.

He was found on the east bank of the Wabash River approximately 200 yards north of the Riehle Plaza in a wooded area between the river and the Heritage Trail.

There is no evidence to indicate that anything criminal occurred.

On Friday January 24th the Lafayette Police Department conducted a search in this same area based on information that Mr. Bastian liked to fish there.

Off road vehicles along with the assistance of the Indiana State Police helicopter were utilized during the search.

There is no question that the higher temperatures yesterday allowed for the melting of snow and aided in the discovery of Mr. Bastian.

His body has been turned over to the Tippecanoe County Coroners office.
