INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Oct. 1, 2015) — Three Indianapolis schools are on a two-hour delay Thursday morning after someone stole batteries from school buses.
According to the local manager for A & S Transportation, thieves stole batteries from 30 school buses at the bus barn on South Kitley Avenue. It happened between 12 a.m. and 5 a.m.
The following schools are affected:
- Emma Donnan Elementary and Middle School
- Emmerich Manual High School
- T.C. Howe High School
Employees arrived to find all the battery compartments on the buses were wide open and the gate was also open. Police arrived on the scene around 5:30 a.m. and stayed for about an hour while they talked to employees and gathered evidence.
Officials said each bus was being taken into a garage area so employees could work to get them up and running. An employee said there was another break-in about two weeks ago, although nothing was stolen in that case.
