YORKTOWN, Ind. (Nov. 4, 2014)– A candidate running for a seat in the Yorktown Town Council was arrested Tuesday at a polling site.

Richard Yencer Jr., 60, is preliminarily charged with theft and leaving the scene of a traffic accident .

Witnesses reported to police that a person was stealing campaign signs at Cammack United Methodist Church Monday night.

The accident allegedly occurred during a confrontation between Yencer and those accusing him of stealing signs.

Yencer was arrested while meeting with voters at Yorktown High School Tuesday afternoon.

He was released from the Delaware County jail after posting a $5,000 bond.
