Car bursts into flames on east side, driver seriously injured

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (March 20, 2014) – A driver was seriously injured after his car burst into flames on the city’s east side.

The accident occurred around 10:50 p.m. near the intersection of North Dearborn Street and Glenn Drive.

According to police, the car hit a tree and burst into flames. Two people were inside the car when it happened. The passenger suffered minor injuries while the driver suffered serious burns and some broken bones. He needed help from firefighters to get out of the vehicle.

Both men were transported to Eskenazi Hospital.

Investigators are trying to determine whether alcohol played a factor in the crash.
