Carmel, Ind. – The Carmel Fire Department is greeting elementary school students this week as the children head back to class from summer break.

It’s a tradition for the firefighters to wave at students and their families arriving at the eleven Carmel Clay School District elementary schools.

Of course the kids love it, but school leaders say it’s also a unique opportunity to remind everyone driving by the schools to be careful around school buildings since students are back in class.
