A 23-year-old Carmel man was arrested Thursday in connection with the rape of a Ball State student.

Aaron Jeffery King II was preliminarily charged with rape, criminal confinement, criminal deviant conduct and strangulation.

Muncie police said the alleged attack occurred on Indianapolis’ northwest side around 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Sgt. Mike Engle confirmed the female victim was hospitalized.  The extent of her injuries is unknown at this time.

King is a former Ball State student and graduated from Carmel High School in 2008.
