A new development is coming to an already booming area.

Developers in Carmel turned shovels on the second phase of the Carmel City Center Thursday.

The Nash building will be three stories high with a parking garage underground.

City leaders said the 31 condos and 8,300 square feet of retail space that make up the project will fill a gap from city hall to Carmel City Center.

Construction is on track to be finished by early 2015.

“There’s actually been a little bit of work that has already happened. I would expect the excavation of the garage in the next 30 days. Garage will probably take about six months to complete. And then, 12 to 15 months or so to do the building,” said Bruce Cordingley.

The building is just one part of a master plan started in 1997 to revamp Carmel’s downtown.

Developers have already secured two retail tenants for the project but aren’t saying yet who’s moving in.
