Man sentenced in deadly Carmel crash

Update (Aug. 9, 2017)— Hernan Posada-Rodriguez accepted a plea agreement for reckless driving causing bodily injury and the OWI charge was dismissed. He was sentenced to 365 days in the county jail. He received credit for two days served and 185 days were suspended. He will have 180 days of probation.

CARMEL, Ind. — An early Sunday morning accident in Carmel just before 3 a.m. has claimed the life of one woman and has one person under arrest for being under the influence of alcohol.

Carmel police are reporting that a man traveling eastbound on 96th struck a woman on the driver’s side of her car who was pulling out of the River Road Apartments.

The woman, later identified as 44-year-old Monica Davila of Indianapolis, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Police arrested Hernan Posada-Rodriguez on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and operating while intoxicated causing death.

96th Street was closed between Gray Road and Randall Drive while the accident reconstruction team investigated.
