INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Carrier released a statement Wednesday, providing more details regarding its deal with President-elect Trump and Vice President-elect Pence.

The deal, which was originally going to preserve “close to 1,000 jobs,” was announced Tuesday. Carrier now says it will keep “more than 1,000 jobs.”

The company says it will retain those jobs by continuing to manufacture gas furnaces and by retaining engineering and headquarters staff.

Carrier also says it will designate its Indianapolis manufacturing facility as a “Center of Excellence for gas furnace production, with a commitment to making significant investments to continue to maintain a world-class furnace factory.”

The company says it was able to retain the jobs thanks to incentives offered by the state. The details regarding those incentives were not immediately provided.

“This agreement in no way diminishes our belief in the benefits of free trade and that the forces of globalization will continue to require solutions for the long-term competitiveness of the U.S. and of American workers moving forward,” said Carrier.
