It was a star studded affair on Thursday night at Victory Field for the 5th Annual Caroline Symmes Memorial Celebrity Softball Challenge. The list of participants included a number or well known names like Colts quarterback Andrew Luck, wide receiver Reggie Wayne, linebacker Robert Mathis, Pacers center Roy Hibbert, guard George Hill and even our own Sport Director, Chris Hagan.  Hibbert and Mathis served as hosts of the event. Although the softball game itself has some friendly competition, the most significant part of the event is proceeds go to the Indiana Children’s Wish Fund.

“It puts a smile a child’s face. They already go through a lot being dealt kind of a short hand. So come out, have fun, give them something to smile about and let them enjoy themselves,” said Robert Mathis, the Colts five-time Pro Bowl Defensive End.

“It’s something to give back to the community, doing it for a reason and a cause. Nice to come out here, have fun, play the game with a great group of guys who have great hearts. Anytime you got to do something for a cause and you got a great group of people behind it, you know it’s always going to be a fun turn out,” said Hill.

While tonight was a change of scenery at the ballpark the professionals return home next week. The Indians back at in Indianapolis on June 21 when they host Charlotte at 7:15pm.
