MORGAN COUNTY, Ind. — Deputies with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department are investigating the drowning of a toddler.

Deputies responded to a home in the 11600 block of North Mann Road, north of Landersdale Road, around 10:15 p.m.

Officials are still investigating the incident that occurred at a pool. Officials told Fox59 the boy, Damon Nicely, died at the scene but was pronounced deceased at St Francis Hospital Mooresville.

Fox59 spoke with Damon’s grandfather, who stated the incident was a complete accident.  He stated the boy was inside the house with other family members, but somehow Damon made his way outside to the pool.

This is the third pool-related drowning in a week. Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to the Lakeside Pointe Apartments Tuesday evening after a pool monitor found a 6-year-old child motionless at the bottom of a pool.

On Monday, an 11-year-old girl died after becoming tangled in a pool cover.
