INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Mar. 10, 2015) — As the Colts made big moves during free agency Tuesday, fans itching for another Super Bowl trip sounded off. On the afternoon drive home, 1070 the Fan host JMV had a lot to talk about with the fans who called in.
“I’m optimistic for this season,” one fan said.
“I’m happy with what I’ve seen so far,” another fan said.
As free agency opened and the Colts began with a bang, signing running back Frank Gore, it served as a wake-up call to a city in the midst of off-season and the disheartening loss of Reggie Wayne.
“It is just hard and fast news, absolutely rapid fire. Fans love it,” JMV said.
Businesses downtown were excited, too. Lids Locker Room at Georgia and Capitol recently snagged the rights to customize jerseys and other items, saying they’ll be read to print Frank Gore merchandise as soon as his deal if final and he’s assigned a number.
“It’ll definitely drive some business for us that was kind of unexpected,” VP of Marketing John DeWaal said.
It’s excitement that comes on the heels of a bittersweet season, as Indianapolis hopes to see a big win under Andrew Luck in their future.
“That would be nice, to see the Colts come back and do what they need to do to bring the team back together and bring us back that Super Bowl,” fan Anthony Porter said.
“(I want a) Super Bowl this time. They got (to) the championship game this year, they’ve got to beat New England,” fan Tom Forbes said.
