COLUMBUS, Ind. – The high school that saw Vice President-elect Mike Pence graduate will play a role in the inauguration in January.
Columbus North High School’s Sound of North marching band was able to raise more than $90,000 in donations to travel to Washington D.C. and march in the inaugural parade.
The band received an invitation to perform after the band’s longtime director pitched the idea to a state representative, who passed the message along to Pence.
The band is working on a special performance for the parade.
Although the band director says they’ve raised enough money, fundraising efforts will continue to raise an additional $30,000. If enough donations are made, the trip will also include some sightseeing opportunities around Washington, D.C.
