A $1.3 billion expressway that connects Indiana to Illinois is getting the green light. A committee voted in favor of the Illiana Tollway Thursday.
It will link Interstate 55 in Illinois to I-65 in the Hoosier State.
Governors of both states have praised the project, saying the 47-mile connector would boost the economy and create jobs.
The plan been widely criticized in that area, too, with some calling it the “highway to nowhere land.”
