A high powered group of community and business leaders are working together to find better ways to protect you and your family.

The Department of Public Safety Foundation includes members like former U.S. Senator Richard Lugar and Indiana Pacers President Jim Morris.

The group will explore ways to bring local business expertise to the fight against crime.

“One of the issues we spent a long time talking about was developing a training program for the top level supervisors throughout public safety and how do we go about doing that? We could purchase such training one-time for $50,000 from a place in D.C.  or we could create something on our own,” said Melissa Proffitt Reese.

Local universities and human resource professionals are donating training and curriculum to help the Department of Public Safety run a more efficient and effective set of departments.
