INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (July 13, 2015) - Dozens of bicyclists plan to hit the road Monday morning to honor officers killed in the line of duty. The group "Cops Cycling for Survivors" begins a 13-day ride across Indiana to mark its 12th year raising awareness and funds for the people the officers leave behind.

Riders gathered at the Law Enforcement/Firefighter Memorial early Monday morning to prepare for the nearly 1000 mile trip. A large truck for the event features images of the four officers being remembered this year. The 2015 ride pays tribute to IMPD officer Perry Renn and former Franklin football player Officer Nick Schultz, who served on the Merrillville Police force. Both officers were killed in 2014.

Officer Renn's widow and Officer Schultz's mother will be joining riders for the first leg of the trip. Schultz's Franklin football coach is scheduled to deliver a keynote speech at the departure ceremony.
