Deputy in ‘fair condition’ after crash on I-465 near 86th Street

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The Indiana Department of Transportation says all lanes are back open on I-465 southbound near West 86th street.

Indiana State Police confirm the backup was caused by an officer involved motorcycle accident.

Our content partners at The Indianapolis Star report that the officer was a Marion County sheriff’s deputy who was escorting Chevrolet Corvettes to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The deputy is said to have ran into the back of one of the Corvettes as it was slowing down.

While the identity of the deputy has not been released, they officials say the deputy was taken to St. Vincent Indianapolis Hospital in “fair condition.”

No other injuries were reported as a result of this accident.
