Crews prepping roads in anticipation of storm

The clock is ticking – a massive winter storm is on its way.

Drivers Fox 59 spoke with said waiting simply wasn’t an option anymore.

“We already had the family celebration, Santa already came” said Brendan Stout.

Holiday travelers who wait until late Tuesday or Wednesday could be faced with some dicy conditions.

INDOT spokesperson Nathan Riggs  had a serious warning about a possible white-out. “Make that good judgment decision of if the conditions are bad, is it really important to get where you think you need to go?”

State road crews, who will be in position Tuesday night before the snow starts falling, have already been pre-treating may of the interstates and state routes with brine to create a barrier they hope will help.

Indy Snow Force, in charge of salting and clearing the major thoroughfares in Marion County, is also calling in all of its drivers.  Some will get behind the wheel of borrowed trucks to help tackle what could be the biggest snow storm in years.
