INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Two people were injured in a drive-by shooting on the near northeast side of Indianapolis, police say.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting was reported just before 1 p.m. in the 2000 block of Fernway Street.

IMPD said officers arrived at the scene to find a man had been shot. The shooting victim was taken to an area hospital. Police learned a second person had also been shot; a family member had taken that victim to the hospital. Both individuals were listed in critical condition.

Police said the victims were in a car when another vehicle rolled up next to it. Someone opened fire and drove off; the victims’ car then hit a parked car.

IMPD said the incident was being investigated as an aggravated assault and believe this is an isolated incident. They were checking nearby surveillance cameras to see if the incident was caught on camera.
