GREENE COUNTY, Ind. (December 17, 2015) – A Greene County man has been sentenced after he decapitated a dog with an ax.

Jerry Sullivan was arrested on October 15 after police say he admitted to killing a woman’s dog.

Casey Ryan said her dog bit the man she was living with, and Sullivan’s dog ran away in the commotion.

According to Ryan, Sullivan threatened to kill her dog if he couldn’t find his dog. Later that day, Ryan says Sullivan came into the house with an ax and blood on him.

Ryan called police, and after questioning, Sullivan admitted that he beheaded the dog.

Sullivan pleaded guilty on December 16. He was convicted of killing a domestic animal, a level 6 felony.

He will serve four months on home detention followed by one year of probation.
