Indiana man accused of kidnapping woman, beating her, and holding her head under water

FOUNTIAN COUNTY, Ind. – Police arrested a Fountain County man for allegedly kidnapping a woman, beating her, and attempting to hold her head under water.

On September 17 around 2 p.m. Indiana State Police troopers were sent to the 4700 block of Sout Silver Island Road near Kingman to speak to a female victim of a kidnapping and battery complaint.

Trooper Josh Edwards arrived with assistance from the Fountain County Sheriff’s Department and spoke to the victim. She said that Cody Demotte, 24, of Kingman, had taken her unwillingly and battered her earlier that morning.

She said Demotte hit her several times in the upper body and attempted to hold her head under water.

Authorities located Demotte and arrested him on charges of kidnapping, criminal confinement, and domestic battery.

He was taken to the Fountain County jail.

The investigation is ongoing with possibility of further charges pending.
