UPDATE — Cory Woody was found guilty on all counts (two counts of murder and one count of robbery resulting in serious bodily injury) on Aug. 29, 2017, after a trial. Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 27, 2017.
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department have arrested a man they believe murdered a 27-year-old in September of 2015.
The suspect, 42-year-old Cory Woody, has been charged with murder, felony murder, and robbery resulting in serious bodily injury. He is also currently serving time in the Department of Corrections on unrelated charges.
Police were called to the scene of the north side incident around midnight after a 911 caller said they heard “popping” noises coming from inside an SUV. When officers arrived, they found 27-year-old Joshua Thomas in the driver’s seat, with a gunshot wound to the head. EMS arrived and Thomas was pronounced dead.
