UPDATE: Lawrence police arrest 17-year-old suspect in connection with armed robbery at gas station

LAWRENCE, Ind. – Lawrence police arrested a teenager after an early morning armed robbery at a gas station.

According to the Lawrence Police Department, it happened around 4:20 a.m. at the BP Rickers located at 9235 E. 56th St.

Two clerks on duty told officers a male suspect entered the store and displayed a handgun while demanding cash from the register. After receiving an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect fled the scene on foot to the west.

No injuries were reported during the incident.

Moments later, police saw a silver Chevrolet Cobalt with an expired Indiana temporary license plate leaving the Rickers area. Police stopped the vehicle and found a 17-year-old male who closely resembled the suspect.

The cashier identified the teen as the same person who committed the robbery. Police also found two handguns in the trunk of the vehicle.

The male faces preliminary charges of armed robbery.
