BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (April 19, 2016) – A man who pleaded guilty to raping two women at gunpoint near the IU campus has been sentenced to 109.5 years.
Michael W.L. Deweese, 20, of Indianapolis, was arrested in November 2014 after he broke into a residence on East 12th Street and raped two women at gunpoint.
According to court documents, victim number one said she was forced to perform oral sex in her bedroom to one of the suspects. Then, she said she was taken to the second victim’s bedroom. It was there that both women claimed they were raped.
A third woman inside the house called police when she heard her two roommates screaming. When police arrived at the scene, they saw a man standing in the front doorway of the house. The man fired several shots at an officer, and the officer fired back, hitting Deweese in the leg.
Another man, Vaylen Keishaun Glazebrook, 20, allegedly committed the crimes with Deweese and was arrested on the same charges: attempted murder, seven counts of rape, two counts of armed robbery, burglary while armed, three counts of criminal confinement with injury and resisting law enforcement with a deadly weapon.
Glazebrook is currently in the Monroe County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bond, and his next court hearing is scheduled for April 28 in the Monroe Circuit Court.
