Deadly shooting under investigation on west side

Police have arrested Damarion Moore for his alleged role in the death of Chrishaun Snelling.


INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.– One person died Wednesday morning following a shooting on the city’s west side.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) responded to a person shot just after 8:25 a.m. on Wednesday

Officers were called to the scene in the 700 block of Hardin Blvd., near West Morris St. and South Mickley Ave.

Police said a man was found unresponsive and suffering apparent gunshot wounds in a stairwell of an apartment complex.

He was transported to Eskenazi Hospital in serious condition and later pronounced dead.

IMPD detectives immediately began canvassing the area and speaking to witnesses while forensics teams assisted with identifying and collecting potential forensic evidence.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as Chrishaun Snelling, 21, and confirmed his death was from gunshot wounds.

IMPD said initial information provided to the detectives lead them to believe this is an isolated incident.
