INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.—Troopers with Indiana State Police arrested a suspect wanted in connection with a hit-and-run crash that killed a bicyclist last year.

Andy Raul Orellana De Leon, 25, was wanted on a warrant in connection with the crash that killed 27-year-old bicyclist Charles Jones of Indianapolis.

Jones was found unresponsive lying in the roadway near the intersection of E. Michigan Street and N. Euclid Avenue last October. He was pronounced dead on the way to Eskenazi Hospital.

Troopers arrested De Leon following a traffic stop on I-69 Tuesday morning. Police say De Leon was pulled over for speeding and not wearing a seatbelt. During the stop, police say De Leon did not provide identification and gave false information to the trooper.

Once the trooper learned of De Leon’s identity, the suspect was arrested on a warrant for leaving the scene of a fatal crash.

The case has been turned over to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office to determine formal charges.
