Woman fights off police impersonator in Tippecanoe County

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (October 16, 2015) – A Tippecanoe County woman fought off a police impersonator after a confrontation Thursday.

According to police, a female was driving her personal vehicle southbound in the area of Springboro Road and Tyler Road around 9:30 a.m. when she was stopped by a black SUV with what appeared to be police lights in the front.

After the driver of the black SUV stopped the woman, he walked up to her car.

The woman realized the man was not an officer, and there was a physical confrontation between the woman and the alleged impersonator. She managed to escape and drive away.

She drove directly to the Lafayette State Police Post and reported the alleged crime.

The alleged impersonator is described as a tall white male driving a black SUV.

The investigation is ongoing.
