INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — A domestic disturbance may be the cause behind a shooting which has left one person dead on the city’s northeast side, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

According to police, just after 1 a.m., Northeast District officers were called to the 4100 block of Richelieu Road, just west of 42nd Street and Post Road, on a confirmed person shot call.  When officers arrived, they located an adult male who had been shot. Indianapolis EMS responded and transported the male to an area hospital. Despite the best life-saving efforts by medical staff, the male died from his injuries.

Homicide detectives canvassed the scene and spoke with potential witnesses, police said. While investigations continue, preliminary information has led police to believe this case is an isolated incident which stemmed from a domestic situation.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office will be assisting in determining the exact manner and cause of death of the victim. The MCCO will release the name of the victim once proper next-of-kin notification has been made.

Anyone with information is urged to please contact the homicide office at 317.327.3475 or Crime Stoppers at 317.262.TIPS. This is an active and ongoing investigation.
